When Ted Nugent rolls into town, he rocks a venue like few others can, especially in his hometown. If you are expecting the same guy you see as a talking head on TV, you will be pleasantly surprised. Instead of any political activism you get a wild mix of patriotism, profanity, and eardrum-busting rock and roll. A Ted Nugent show is all about the music. Whether you are a fan of Uncle Ted or not, you are guaranteed to be entertained.
It was almost 100 degrees the day of the show, one of the hottest of the year. The Motor City Madman was no help when it came to cooling off the crowd. Every song seemed to be a crowd favorite that had people on their feet singing, dancing, and cheering the entire show. If there were a few songs that made the crowd more excited than others, they would have to be “Hey Baby” and “Cat Scratch Fever.” The cheers for these songs were almost louder than the sound coming from the stage.
Ted Nugent recently had knee surgery and he isn’t the young rebel he used to be, but you would never be able to tell based on the energetic performance he put on. If nothing else, Nugent and his band showed that age means nothing when it comes to rocking out. As the only show on the Midwest Rock and Roll Express Tour where Nugent headlined, this was definitely not one to have missed. It was a homecoming of epic proportions that is unlikely to be forgotten by the fans any time soon.
